Raymond Arroyo, host on EWTN, has stated according to his sources he thinks around 50% of US Bishops voted for Obama in 2008. Can anyone verify these numbers? Do you think 50% might be too high? If it is 50%, does this constitute an apostasy in the faith that Our Lady predicted at fatima?

There is no way to know, unless they have gone on the record with their votes, which is highly unlikely.

Why is this news, most Catholics are not good Catholics denying many teachings but going thru the motion as Catholics.

Sadly, I was not surprised by the possibility.
All too many Catholics are defectors, knowingly or unknowingly, and the hierarchy is rife with such

1 in 10 people are chronic liars.
84.3% of all statistics are made up.
All US bishops must report their voting decisions to EWTN executives at the end of each calendar year.
All of these statements are true and verifiable.

Raymond Arroyo is speaking irresponsibly, purporting to know how bishops voted "according to his sources."
Unless his "sources" followed every one of the bishops into the voting booth, he's just spreading rumours, and perhaps starting the rumours, since this is the first time I've heard this claim.
If you want to criticize the bishops, at least criticize them for something that you can prove that they have done.
While you're looking for reasons to criticize bishops, recall that they are priests as well as bishops and that we should pray for all our priests.

Arroyo reported that percentage on tV at a USCCB plenary meeting. He had Fr. Neuhaus on as co-anchor and they spoke about it at some length. They both got in hot water with the Bishops but no one at the USCCB asked them to retract the number. Arroyo presumably got it the old fashioned way he asked each of them in his role as reporter. If you think about it, the voting guide which the USCCB put out prior to the election gives cover to anyone voting for Obama or any other Democrat. So it wouldn't be a scandal to report if one had voted for him.

I'm surprised it's so high. Let's face it. Most of them were educated at CINO institutions which tend to produce CINO Catholics anyway, why so surprised?
