Nope, I was just given local anaesthetic with a topical anaesthetic before the needle so even that was numb :P.  Was given the two fillings and the root canal with a temporary filling with looks like someone took a pit of chewing gum and stuck it in the gap that existed there.  Need to wait two weeks before the root canal can be finished and I can be given a set of dental veneers to build up one tooth and cover up the root-canalled one.
