Jehovah Witnesses

There are web sites for ex-JWs if you want to learn how to get past their rote recitations and help them find the True Faith.  Here's one:

list of articles here:

http://www.catholicxjw.com/doctrines.html

The URL below is specifically for Catholics who want to witness to JWs who come to their door.  It's a short article covering how to prepare and how to begin:

http://www.catholicxjw.com/Witnessingtojws.html

Catholics who know the Faith and the Bible can be very effective witnessing to JWs.  JWs have specific ways to work with Catholics and one is knowing that most don't know the Bible too well.  Protestant groups also succeed with Catholics, especially immigrants, by knowing the Bible.  A Catholic friend of mine has a lot of fun when JWs or Mormons drop by because he really knows the Bible and that scares them!

I feel that many people need to be rescued from this cult so if you can do it, it's a work of mercy, like visiting those in prison since they tend to have fetters on their mind and soul.

If you read the conversion stories at www.catholicxjw.com, you'll learn about the anguish JW children go through and the terrible difficulty of leaving the cult.  JWs shun their children, siblings, parents, anyone who leaves the cult.

I also saw racism among JWs, though they brag on their integrated kingdom halls and racial harmony.  Though I was never a JW, I had family that were and could keep contact with me because I wasn't an apostate JW, just someone who "hadn't seen the Truth yet," so when I was with a group of JWs, some would forget I wasn't part of their sect and say things they wouldn't normally say if non-JWs were present.  If the blacks knew what the whites said behind their backs, they would leave the Witnesses.

I need prayers here.

My grandmother is a Jehovah's Witness and I visit her once a week or fortnight. She almost always brings up statements like how the 'kingdom of God is coming' or how Jesus is high Priest but not God etc. I think she is evangelising me. She knows I'm Catholic. My grandfather is a fallen away Catholic and I also visit to try to talk to him, but she won't leave me and him alone.

I wrote to a priest about this and am expecting a reply soon, but am quite helpless as for tomorrow. I don't know what to say, and I feel very uncomfortable when my grandmother just starts talking like that. I don't have alot of time to study their horrid teachings due to other pressing responsibilities. At this point I have the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts to turn to, but I can't find anyone to speak to. 2 priests whom I have spoken to me were not very helpful on this  at all....

I am just very weary of being with my grandmother when she brings up her faith, and i'm more worried for my grandfather. My grandmother evangelises form door to door even though she is ill with diabetes and in her 80s. She tells me to be always aware of God's presence and to always trust in His name and call on Him when in need, and to above all do all things to please Him only. If she were Catholic she would be a saint  :(

I feel sorry for you.  The trouble is that JWs somehow are trapped in a horrible thing called the iron maiden.  They will not listen to reason.  They have their own weird faith because it pleases their  deranged senses.  These people need psychiatric help.  Once this is done, maybe they will listen to reason.

I don't have the impression that many of them need specialised help. Just lots of grace to convert and to see the light. They are just mislead by leaders who are obviously more hardcore and who have much more malicious intentions.

Thanks for the prayers, Loriveronica. I really appreciate it  :)

I have talked with JWs and they don't seem to me to be in full normal possession of their mental faculties.  That is why I recommend psychiatric help for them first.  Otherwise, you are wasting your time trying to convert them to the true catholic faith.
