Iran, for all the hoopla over the religious extremism of the mullahs, has an extremely low birthrate for the region.  Once the current generation of young people passes into retirement age, the Iranian economy is in deep trouble.  Hence why Iran is making so much noise now in an effort to accumulate wealth.

But this isn't just in Third World countries when it comes to Muslims.

Though they're a few generations behind their native European brethren, birthrates among immigrant Muslim communities are falling as the generations go by.
