True, but Church Latin is pronounced like Italian, which is phonetic and therefore easy even for old people if they put forth a little effort. 

Some old people who studied Classical Latin in school, as I did, may be saying it's hard because they're remembering declining nouns and conjugating verbs.  I loved Latin but some people find other languages difficult. 

But you don't need to study Latin grammar to sing Latin hymns or give responses in Latin, and your missal has a translation of everything so you can understand it.
