If #1 is true, it seems like we're a forum full of people skipping the small talk of the "real world" but who simultaneously need an outlet because we can't shut up about Catholicism.  :laughing:

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.
Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.
Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.
Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.
Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.
A world without Introverts would be a world with few scientists, musicians, artists, poets, filmmakers, doctors, mathematicians, writers, and philosophers. That being said, there are still plenty of techniques an Extrovert can learn in order to interact with Introverts. (Yes, I reversed these two terms on purpose to show you how biased our society is.) Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

Neat!  Thanks for sharing.  People have always told me that I seem shy until the subject at hand is something I'm interested in.  I give lots of presentations and speeches in front of a number of people for my job.  The first time a friend or coworker watches me speak they are usually shocked because I'm so quiet and low key otherwise.  I sometimes get nervous with public speaking (and especially did at first) but now I just love it.  I love it when people start asking me questions about what I'm saying because it shows they're interested and listening.  This makes me wonder if my efforts to improve my public speaking skills alone is what caused my personality change.

Jayne is a T, I am an F.  Knowing this sometimes helps us to understand why the other one says or does something.  They aren't being stupid or insensitive or deliberately wimpy or illogical, they just approach things differently.

Jayne is a J, I am a P.  We can work around that, if we're aware of it.  But if we let Jayne make a schedule that requires tight timing, and then we expect me to follow it, it doesn't work.

But I think the theory is that we learn certain skills very early and are most comfortable with using them, then as we grow older we become more comfortable with the other skills and become more well-rounded personalities.

By the way, why are these called "Kiersey" personality types?  I've always heard them referred to as "Myers-Briggs", and of course they are based on Jung's theories.

I never thought about trying that.  I'll have to see if I can get my hubby to take a test and see if it helps us relate a little better.
I've taken multiple versions of the Kiersey test and I always come out as a strong INFJ. I'm a dreamer, I like to create things,I hate fighting and try my best to brings sides together.I like one on one conversations but hate group events.I love complex music, like jazz, and can sit for hours listening by myself.
Following is a high level overview of the different personality types...


Serious and quiet, interested in security and peaceful living.
Extremely thorough, responsible, and dependable.  Well-developed
powers of concentration.  Usually interested in supporting and
promoting traditions and establishments.  Well-organized and
hard working, they work steadily towards identified goals.  They

existing leaders.


Logical, original, creative thinkers.  Can become very excited about theories
and ideas.  Exceptionally capable and driven to turn theories into clear
understandings.  Highly value
knowledge, competence and logic.  Quiet and reserved, hard to get to know
well.  Individualistic, having no interest in leading or following others.


Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented.  "Doers" who are focused on immediate
