I received an email this morning informing me that Fr. Norman Weslin, O.S., has passed away at the age of 82. If you recall, he was the priest who was arrested at the University of Notre Dame (along with 87 others) for "trespassing" onto their property whilst protesting the university's bestowal of an honorary doctorate upon President Obama. I personally was unaware until now, however, that he was part of the Oblates of Wisdom, a traditional order which uses primarily both the TLM and the OF in Latin, ad orientem.
Réquiem ætérnam dona ei Dómine, et lux perpétua lúceat ei. Requiéscat in pace. Amen.
(To moderators: I wasn't quite sure where to post this here, since it's important news, or in the Oratory, since it's a death notice -- feel free to move it to wherever you feel is most appropriate.)
