My desire is to see as little child abuse as possible. A painful death would seem to me to be a deterant. I would make men convicted of possessing child porn witness the execution.

Re-offence rate would be zero.

Honest men could be scout masters and gym coaches without suspicions and doubt. There are many positives.

A soldier is different because he doesn't (usually) join the army out of a desire to kill people.

If your desire is to see as little child abuse as possible, why wouldn't you prefer permanent exile instead?  No, your desire is to hurt pedophiles, and you justify it in your mind by helping children.

You also know nothing of addiction and mental illness.  You could show a pedophile a hundred executions and, knowing that that was what was in store for them, they'd still go out and abuse a child.  They'd just do it in a way to minimize their chance of being caught.

My inner medievalist reminds me that in 14th century England, a rape victim was expected to choose how the rapist would be mutilated. Sometimes she would even be expected to personally take blade in hand, gouge his eyes out, castrate him, and/or force-feed him his own severed genitals.

Makes sense to me.

As a mediaeval history major in university I'm curious. Do you have a cite for this?

It's just that some of us sinners need to go to confession and keep fighting the good fight and others need to be fed to hungry pigs while still alive or have petrol poured on them and be set alight.

Leave Perez to me and I would give him a slow and painful death. He deserves it.

What is it with you and your desire to be the vengeful executioner of homosexuals?  This is rediculous, you are a travesty of Catholicism.

Er...what? Were talkin kiddy fiddlers here. Not run of the mill Homos.
Same garbage.

I'll go look. Might have been on JSTOR or something of that sort, which I no longer have access to.

If you give me a name or title, I can find it.

Massive difference Gottmituns - run of the mill homosexuals referred to above are consenting adults. Pedo's corrupt God's most innocent creatures and ruin lives/souls. But I suspect you're having a dig at Melkite.

Exile is cruel too. Besides that you would need to find a place to put them, guards to guard them and a great deal of expensive infrastructure. Some would claim to be "cured", liberals would campaign for their release and some poor child out there would have their life screwed up. Not acceptible.

The paedos would also sit around on their island justifying their sin with each other. Does them no good.

Besides, few people I know want them kept alive. When a dog bites they should be put down, these people have broken their social contract with civilised society and should be destroyed. It is not mental illness, it is pure evil that drives them.

Papal States executed them as told by an elderly Priest.  Perhaps one of the whipper snapper college kids could check on this.

I couldn't find the source I was looking for, alas. But I did find a History of English Law Before the Time of Edward I, Volume II, which is ridiculously comprehensive. Punishments for rape are described on page 489. According to that tome, castration and blinding were given out, but reserved for the rape of virgins. The death penalty ("life and member") was eventually applied to all cases of rape, though, even if the victim didn't sue.
