Pope, church leaders call for guaranteed health care for all people

I just wanted to add, that some of the examples described here of state run health care, seem like they would be violating what was said in the OP--ie that would appear to be limiting access to healthcare for those who should justly have access to it.  In such cases, the state would have a duty to reform its policies so that health care is more available (whether that be permitting greater privatization or whatever).

I think that the key word here is "access" as you see from the first sentenced used in the article. If we are talking "access" then yes under a civil society one should have access to healthcare weather that is government payed healthcare is another question. Sure nobody should be denied basic care simply because they can not afford it, under "mercy" alone this should be obvious.

If you walk into any hospital in the USA bleeding, you'll get all the health care you need.  In fact, if you call 911 because you can't get to a hospital on your own, you get a nice ride with concerned medical professionals assisting you.  Funny, but that sounds as close to guaranteed health care as you can get.  I can't say if it's like that the world over but I'm pretty sure in the civilized world it is.  I can't speak to how the savages treat their wounded, but it probably involves cutting out beating hearts and such like.

Wake me up when we start to see 911 operators refusing to dispatch ambulances to the sick and dying or when doctors and nurses start tossing the infirm out of hospitals.  This is a non-issue.

I am all for "universal healthcare".  Problem is how can it be implemented so it doesn't violate natural/morale law and administered in a way that doesn't give way to socialism/communism?  ???

Yeah, except when those poor people can't/don't pay the ambulance companies, guess who suffers?  The hardworking ambulance folks.

My brother worked for an inner-city ambulance company.  The medical "emergencies" stupid inner-city poor people/morons called the ambulance for were absurd.  things like getting a morbidly obese woman moved from place a to place b, someone not taking their insulin and wondering why they were having ill-effects, and, the kicker - getting a crack pipe out of a woman's vagina.

Pete, google Oklahoma Surgical Center if you need to get her surgery in the future.  Looks like you could have saved $20,000 from the average costs of the surgery.  You can fly her first class to OKC and still save a fortune.  Also, private surgical centers give you the best service by far.

Noted, thanks.

The biggest proof of the failure of the Canadian system is the prominent Canadian politicians that have gone to the US to receive healthcare.

Tim, Sorry to read what you're going through.  You might be interested to read Mark's Daily Apple blog - about primal food, and read Wheat Belly, by a cardiologist.  Their conclusions are the same - modern wheat has been rebred so much that it causes medical problems including type two diabetes.  If you scan Marks daily apple, you'll find lots of people who have reveresed their diabetes by going off carbs.  You can still observe Fridays with fish and veggies.  Its doing wonders in our household.  Best wishes.
