Drinking

This isn't a discussion about being legally drunk; it's a discussion about being morally drunk. Rosa Mystica's blanket statement that no woman can have more than one drink per day without sinning (at least that is what the post seems to imply) is still in question.

A standard drink is equal to

a 12 oz (355 ml.) beer with 5% alcohol (average for most U.S. beers).
A 5 oz. (150 ml.) glass of wine (12.5% alcohol).
1.5 oz. (45 ml.) of 80 proof liquor (40% alcohol).

If you drink one of these drinks, your blood alcohol level will be at a 0.08

Also, if you are a woman, no more than one drink per day. Men are allowed 2 drinks per day.

I hope this answers some questions.

That's just how to make sure you don't get in legal trouble.

I'm a Scot/Norse male.  I can drink a lot.  Not as a note of bragging, just fact.  A single beer has about the same effect on me as a can of coke.  Walty's Irish/Injun if I recall, so he could probably put away a keg like a bottle of Aquafina on a hot day.  CC's a kraut, so I know he can handle a few belts.  Depending on ethnicity, sex, weight (and how long one's been drinking) there are so many variables that the only thing we can say for sure is that if you've lost your reason, you're drunk.  Aside from that, it's so subjective that the only advice worth giving is to be prudent.

Holla holla.

Go thy ways, old Jack;
die when thou wilt, if manhood, good manhood, be
not forgot upon the face of the earth, then am I a

grows old: God help the while! a bad world, I say.

thing. A plague of all cowards, I say still.

Where did you come up with these?  According to the Internet, I can drink 5 beers in 60 minutes and be under 0.08 BAC.

Sounds like crap Protestant "temperance" suggestions.

For the record, I think Rosa Mystica mentioned being a recent convert from protestantism.

Rosa: come on in and have some drinks!  That's right, plural!  We're here to help.

Uhh, I know how to drink.

Yeah while this might have some small truth in it......some woman can drink more than as others and with little effect.

Personally I can drink a bottle of wine and still feel quite fine (though I wouldn't sit behind the wheel of a car).  :wench:

That would mean, a married couple would be sinning sharing a bottle of wine over dinner right?  ???
