A standard drink is equal to

a 12 oz (355 ml.) beer with 5% alcohol (average for most U.S. beers).
A 5 oz. (150 ml.) glass of wine (12.5% alcohol).
1.5 oz. (45 ml.) of 80 proof liquor (40% alcohol).

If you drink one of these drinks, your blood alcohol level will be at a 0.08

Also, if you are a woman, no more than one drink per day. Men are allowed 2 drinks per day.

I hope this answers some questions.

Where did you come up with these?  According to the Internet, I can drink 5 beers in 60 minutes and be under 0.08 BAC.

Sounds like crap Protestant "temperance" suggestions.

Well, you know, they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.

Yeah, I'm an Anglo-Saxon female with a very high metabolism, who can definitely hold her liquor. (And now I really want to hang out with you guys some time!)

Mith, I'm only half Genovese and half Irish, but I can drink, or better could. With my enlaged heart it becomes a problem of strength. If I drink as I can handle, it becomes a problem for me in other areas like walking, and I need a hand, so I don't drink like that any more. But in the day, I'd hang in a saloon from opening at noon on Saturdays till 8 or 10 that night. No problems, just not mixing. Either I drink lke an Irishman, beers and Paddys, or vino, and grappa, not mixed.
