The Catholic Church will stop "gay friendly" masses in the central London church that has held them for the past six years.

This was a very clever move by the Archbishop. He had become under pressure from Rome, so now he "prohibited the gay masses in the Church of the Assumption on Warwick Street".
What he really did was move the gay masses to the Jesuit Church (the same Jesuits that had been running the gay masses on Warwick Street).
Problem solved.

The organizers of the "Soho Masses" will not be allowed to plan liturgical celebrations at another London parish, a Jesuit pastor has disclosed.

What does that even mean -- "gay-friendly Mass"? Is that parish moving to a "gay-hating Mass"? What made it "gay-friendly" to begin with? Did they sing show tunes instead of hymns? Have drag revues in the basement? Throw glitter at the Consecration?

I chuckled. Awesome/awful visual. Can you imagine?
Anyways, my understanding was that homilies were tailored towards 'connecting' with a homosexual audience, and the parish had activities for evangelization, etc towards homosexuals. As I understand it, this itself isn't inherently wrong per se, though it can be hard to toe the line between sympathy towards one's inclination to sin and celebrating the sin itself. As I understand it, the 'soho masses' began to do just that; they went from evangelizing tools to aid homosexuals in their specific conditions to celebrating the condition and acting it out. Hence the move to a location where this 'hopefully' won't be allowed to take place.

Hmm... Some of the Novus Ordo Masses I've been to might have been a little better with some glitter LOL

Fr Ray Blake posted about it on his blog, including a short YouTube video:

Yes, the "woman" in the Sanctuary reading the intercessory prayers is indeed a "transsexual" (or at least "transvestite") man.
