Monsignor dealing, more problems for Bridgeport Diocese
#1
Of course the press and critics will run with this.  >sad

"...At a time when priests from California to Delaware have been accused of loathsome deeds, the allegations against Monsignor Wallin, the former pastor of the Cathedral of St. Augustine in Bridgeport, are of a notably different dimension: that he was a drug dealer and addict who was buying an adult novelty shop to launder ill-gotten proceeds, a priest who was cross-dressing and having sex with men."

"...The lurid case is only the latest scandal for the Bridgeport Diocese, already tainted by a string of clerical sexual abuse cases. Last year, the Rev. Michael R. Moynihan, the former pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Greenwich, was sent to prison for obstructing justice after being accused of spending church money on himself. In 2007, the Rev. Michael Jude Fay, from St. John Roman Catholic Church in Darien, was convicted of stealing $1.3 million; he died in prison."

Ahem.

Ya know, I think the press and critics should run with it.

RUN THE DAMN BISHOP OUT AND THROW HIM IN JAIL (after he is solemnly divested of his Episcopal regalia). The people (meaning Bishops) who enable these men are sick, evil, vile men.

It is a newsworthy story that a prominent priest close to Cardinal Egan opened up a Porn shop and was subsequently arrested for Crystal Meth.

It's a sad angering situation; a collective black eye for Catholics.

Are these the some of the wolves the pope was mentioning?

Probably not.  And if so, one must wonder why he didn't do anything about it.  Since as head of Christ's Church on earth, he has supreme power and jurisdiction over all the faithful.

The personal sins of priest's vices do not have as detrimental and lasting effect as do the errors they preach to their flock.

Go thy ways, old Jack;
die when thou wilt, if manhood, good manhood, be
not forgot upon the face of the earth, then am I a
shotten herring. There live not three good men
unhanged in England; and one of them is fat and
grows old: God help the while! a bad world, I say.
I would I were a weaver; I could sing psalms or any
thing. A plague of all cowards, I say still.

Currently, the Bridgeport Diocese is without a bishop as Bishop Lori was moved to Baltimore about a year ago...

"Certainly, you must be informed about modern errors because preaching the truth involves preaching about distancing oneself from error; but do not make the negative, secondary aspect into the most important! Your first aim is not to fight against error but to know the truth. Your central concern should be study, your sanctification, silence, meditation, and the exercise of charity." - Archbishop Lefebvre
