I'm new to Catholicism, so Benedict is my first pope. I was oblivious to Bl. John Paul II (I still am, actually) and just happened to watch some of his funeral on the news.
So, when they elect the new pontiff, and the bells ring and the smoke comes out, about how much time would be expected to pass before the new Pope is presented? If it happened during work, I'd like to know if there is a point to leaving early to get home, or just trying to watch it at work.
