"In many places, [the Council Fathers] had to find compromise formulas, in which, often, the positions of the majority are located immediately next to those of the minority, designed to delimit them. Thus, the conciliar texts themselves have a huge potential for conflict, open the door to a selective reception in either direction." (Cardinal Walter Kasper,  L'Osservatore Romano, April 12, 2013)

So, Kasper the Friendly Ecumenist is basically admitting what a high-school freshman could determine.

Right. Old news but it puts VII apologists in their place.

It's finally admitted in a Vatican publication.

I know nothing about Cardinal Kasper, but I assume he is no traditionalist based upon his Wikipedia page.

Thanks for sharing this.  If you get the English full text article, please share it.

I started a thread on CAF on the report, though I did find a different blog post linked to in the blog you referenced above.  Any bets on how long the thread over there will last?

Peace,

Peace,

I'm stunned that after 45+ years someone finally admits this.........especially the champion of ecumenicism, Cardinal Kasper. I am speechless but will post about it as soon as I absorb it.

I looked at your post on CAF, it has 5 replies all agreeing with you. Of course BRO. JR. hasn't  weighed in yet & I'm sure that many are waiting until he does. When he confuses everyone with his Theobabble,  they'll all pat his back, say he's right (although no one has an inkling what he's talking about) & praise him for his "wisdom".

"Certainly, you must be informed about modern errors because preaching the truth involves preaching about distancing oneself from error; but do not make the negative, secondary aspect into the most important! Your first aim is not to fight against error but to know the truth. Your central concern should be study, your sanctification, silence, meditation, and the exercise of charity." - Archbishop Lefebvre

There might be more than one thread going. Here is mine, and so far there are not any replies.
