I will try and find a BEFORE photo.

My wife is wanting to know the location of this shrine.

Also, I knew that there may have been some sort of connection between Moses striking the rock twice  Pope Francis' second consecration of the world and this enormous earthquake in a supposedly God-protected heavily Catholic island.

In my mind, I recalled how after the first consecration of the world, the USSR fell.  What happened this time?  The Republicans failed again and the US government shut down ended.  And, oh yeah, a huge earthquake came along and destroyed colonial Spanish-era churches in one of the last Catholic countries on earth.

If the phenomenon of this statue is true, the implications are dire for us all.  The Holy Mother has pleaded with the world for years.  Perhaps this is a gesture that she is now turning her back?

Mama Mary shrine is in Simala in southern Cebu. Mary appeared to a religious brother there in the 1970s and afterwards a monastery and shrine were built there.

I agree. Mary turning her back suggests something not so good may be on the horizon.

Yes Vincentius, please keep us posted what you can find out about this miracle possibly meant for the whole world to know about, maybe even Pope Francis. I've visited Mama Mary shrine and was very moved by the devout pilgrims. I will say a prayer for your health. Pax.

I don't know if this is true, but if it is, Our Lady is VERY close to stop asking Our Lord to spare us. Consecrate Russia, please.

If this is a valid miracle, the implications are terrifying!  Still trying to find more info. If anybody knows more, please share.

A large earthquake hit the southern Philippines. It's epicenter was the island of Bohol. It also occurred in the nearby island of Cebu. The death count is 160+, and 250+ injured. The people noticed a pattern. The main buildings to collapse were the old churches. In several of these churches the only thing that remained standing was a statue of Mary. Here is one story: http://johnib.wordpress.com/2013/10/17/i...aith-hope/

Yet, the most profound sign came from the most visited Marian Shrine in the Philippines on the island of Cebu, called Mama Mary shrine. There is a large, miraculous statue of Mary in this shrine, that has cried and cured many pilgrims. In the same church there is another statue of Mary, that appears to be Our Lady of Fatima. It has a base with the word "Portugal" on it. This base is continuous with the statue. They are one piece. The base cannot be detached from the body. Otherwise the statue would be broken into two pieces.

Here is the great miracle, which seems to be a message, a warning from Our Lady of Fatima. Right after the earthquake, pilgrims noticed and cried out in alarm that this statue had changed. Mary was now facing the wall, with her back to the people. But, the base itself, molded to the body of the statue, was still facing forward with the "Portugal" inscription!

I will try and upload the pic asap (not working from my phone).

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!  May Pope Francis and the world's bishops do as Our Lady requested.

I am hopeful I can make it to the Shrine.  It's up on a hill and I was told there is no passageway for cars.  The only way is by walking or riding one of those passenger type tricycles.  I will let you all know one way or another.  I will be able to gather more info from the residents who I know (Filipino culture on relating what is or what is not true).  Thanks Christulsa123 for your prayers.

Great!!  My wife told me there is a bus terminal in Cebu where vans to the Shrine in Simala take pilgrims. She will email her sister-in-law in Cebu who knows where. Also it's good to arrive at the Shrine early to avoid the lines. There are ramps to the top of the hill, for wheelchairs or an easier climb. Not too far to the top, and not steep. I'd imagine the brothers could help you out.

A lot of people have been healed there. It is inspiring to see all the wheelchairs and crutches left behind.

There is a nice restaurant at the bottom of the hill.

I hope you can go Vincentius.  You will be our Fish Eaters correspondent!

Another piece of information:

The Filipino national news channel ABS-CBN, equivalent to CNN or FoxNews in the US, went to the Mama Mary shrine after the earthquake last week and reported to the nation on this miraculous statue.
