I've got a question about the Easter Vigil that has been nagging me for a while. So, both in the TLM and the NO, the rubics ask for the lights to be turned on after the third "Lumen Christi", yet my experience both at the NO, my TLM parish and other TLM's I've seen online is that the lights remain off during the Prophesies, and get turned on at the Gloria. I would like to ask what has been your experience? And seeing that we tend to emphasize "saying the black, doing the red", why is this rubric allowed to slide(Though, I'll admit I do prefer it that way), is there any justification for this practice?

at the NO i have attended in the past they never turn the lights off at all.
