Medical Sharing Societies
Does anyone here have unconventional means of health insurance (in the US)? My family is now officially uninsured and I've been searching for our best option to possibly avoid sinking into debt over medical bills. It's quite frustrating since what we need, namely maternity care, is very difficult to obtain at a reasonable cost when you're self-employed as we are.
I've been reading tonight about Medical Sharing Societies. Does anyone have any experience with these? It would be great not to have to pay for other people's sterilization procedures or substance abuse counseling (which these groups exclude along with other unchristian medicine). Of course, websites advertising these organizations aren't going to be too specific about the drawbacks, so I was wondering if anyone has specific experience.
Anyone here have a totally different approach to affording your kiddos? We'd happily go bankrupt for a large family, but are trying to avoid that if possible. :)
