Jubliee Year in Spain for St. Teresa of Avila
From EWTN News:

Quote: The Diocese of Avila has made public a decree from the Apostolic Penitentiary by which Pope Francis has granted a Jubilee Year in Spain to mark the 400th anniversary of the beatification of St. Teresa of Avila.

The Teresian Jubilee Year will run from Oct. 25, 2014, to Oct. 15, 2015, and will culminate in the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the saint's birth.

Throughout the year, the faithful will be able to obtain a plenary indulgence according to the normal conditions of sacramental Confession, receiving Communion and praying for the intentions of the Pope. The Church in Spain will soon announce what churches and shrines can be visited to obtain the indulgence.

Pope Francis will also grant a papal blessing to all those who obtain the indulgency during the Teresian Jubilee Year and are “truly repentant, moved by charity and have attended the sacred rites.”

Bishop Jesus Garcia Burrillo of Avila requested the declaration of the Jubilee Year for the Fifth Centenary of St. Teresa of Avila's birth several years ago.

In November 2011, then-president of the Spanish Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouca Varela, asked the Holy Father in writing for the declaration and expressed the desire of the Spanish bishops to celebrate the occasion with diverse liturgical celebrations.

This is fantastic news! I just wonder if I'll have to make a pilgrimage to Spain to obtain the associated plenary indulgence.
