Nuclear Weapons

The United Kingdom currently maintains an arsenal of nuclear warheads deliverable by means of Trident submarine launched ballistic missiles. Whether or not to renew this technology and extend the lifetime of the British nuclear deterrent is a heated topic of political debate here.

Is it morally permissible, for me as a Catholic to support my country's nuclear deterrent?

I would encourage you to look into the Plowshares Movement. Although it has been associated with radical leftism, many of the leading activists are Catholic priests and religious (especially Jesuits and Dominicans), and the movement is one of the descendants of the Catholic Worker Movement. Most of those involved are getting quite old now, and there is one religious sister that I know who is currently in prison for disarmament activism, 85 year-old Sister Megan Rice.

Just war theory seems relevant.

Ultimately the genie can't be put back in the bottle.  Knowledge can't be unlearned. Nuclear power, properly prepared and planned for, seems to one of the best but it can be weaponized.

There is another way.  Anti-Ballistic Missile technology foremost amongst them.  Until and unless your government invests in these, MAD is a viable defensive solution... as long as the adversaries are rational.  I'm not convinced that's an axiom for the Iranian mullahs amongst others.

"Catholic Worker Movement"... "many catholic priests".... No thanks! There are already enough communists infiltrated inside the Church (aka Liberation Theology and pastoral movements in south America).

OP: This talk is ludicrous, speaking of nuclear disarmament is like two cowboys in an impasse, one saying to the other "drop your revolver first, and I shall drop mine". Would you drop? And get shot afterwards? Seriously, there are only two kinds of people who believe in nuclear disarmament, children and fools with utopic dreams and lack of sense of reality.
