Pope Francis makes a phone call
Pope Francis has called a solar-powered parish radio station in rural northern Argentina—a station located in a town so remote that it lacks electricity and running water, according to Vatican Radio.

During his scheduled call to the radio station, which according to the Vatican newspaper took place on August 9, the Pontiff spoke with two priests and said he desired greatly to beatify an Argentine religious, Venerable María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa (1730-99), also known as “Mama Antula.” He asked the listeners to pray for her beatification.

The Pope also asked members of families to care for one another “with that tenderness that Jesus taught us” and encouraged youth to “dream big” and devote themselves to the service of others.
