Items of Note for the Next Two Weeks

Hey all, just some reminders for you all.

This Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are autumn Ember days or Quatuor Temporum (Four Times) in Latin. The Autumn Embertide is also known as the Michaelmas Embertide. See the links below for info about Ember days and the Autumn Embertide

Please be sure to offer many prayers for the souls in Purgatory.

Wednesday and Saturday are days of Fasting and Partial Abstinence
Friday is a day of Fasting and Abstinence

On Partial-Abstinence:
Quote:Meat and soup or gravy made from meat may be eaten once a day at the principle meal.

On Fasting:
Quote:Fasting is the taking of only one full meal (which may include meat) and two smaller, meatless meals that don't equal the large one meal. No eating between meals is allowed, but water, milk tea, cofee, and juices are OK.
Beer is also OK  Grin

Secondly, the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux is approaching. If you follow the new calendar it's October 1 and if you follow the traditional calendar is October 3. If you wish to pray a Novena in participation of the feast, it would begin today for the new calendar and Thursday in the old calendar. Here's a link to a Novena:

Thirdly, the feast of St. Michael the Archangel (Michaelmas) is on September 29th. Here's a link about the feast below:

Lastly, the feast of the Guardian Angels is October 2nd.  Be sure to at least offer a prayer to your guardian angel and give thanks to God for its protection!

I was hoping to observe this, even though the observance has been abolished. I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, so I need to eat. sad I'll be sure to pray for the souls in Purgatory, though!
