Alito and Breyer were out of town on speaking engagements. John Roberts, Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Sonia Sotomayor were the only ones there. I don't think it is a big deal. It's unusual if all of the justices show up even for state of the union speeches.

I thought that, like the President, they couldn't have an entire branch of gov't in one easy to blow up place.
