Reparation Prevented
Chinese police refused to allow a day of reparation organized by a Catholic bishop after the Eucharist was desecrated in a local church, the AsiaNews service reports.

Bishop Stephen Yang Xiangti had asked the faithful to gather in Eucharistic adoration after a tabernacle was ransacked, and consecrated hosts strewn on the ground, in the village of Xiao Di Ba, in Hebei province. But police intervened, saying that the gathering was a threat to public security, ordered the prayer service cancelled. The bishop asked Catholics to pray and do penance in private.

Police said that the young man responsible for the desecration had been arrested and charged with theft.

Maybe we could spend a few more minutes before the Blessed Sacrament in unity with our Catholic brothers in China and in reparation for this sacrilege.
