What happened to Mary Reed Newland?
#1
We and Our Children and The Year and Our Children, both by Mary Reed Newland, were my introduction to Traditionalism back in the 90's.

She was my heroine!

She inspired me to homeschool.

When I read about the "High Mass" and the Feast Days in her books, I was bewildered by this Church I knew not.

Anyway, someone told me that after Vatican II she became an apostate. sad

Does anyone know the real story about what happened to her and her family?

She died in 1989.  I found a Boston Globe obituary for her which says that a funeral mass was said for her at St. Patrick's in Monson, MA.  Unfortunately it is truncated and can only be read by subscribers.  https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-8118674.html

Here's her grave marker, it's in a Catholic cemetery: https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=62536539

Thanks for mentioning her; I added several of her books to my to-read list.
