Quote:Exorcism of the salt

God's creature, salt, I cast out the demon from you, in the name of God [Image: rubric-cross.gif] the Father almighty, in the love of our Lord Jesus [Image: rubric-cross.gif] Christ, and in the strength of the Holy [Image: rubric-cross.gif] Spirit. I purify you by the living God, the true God, the holy God, by God who created you to be a preservative for mankind, and ordered you to be sanctified by His ministers for the benefit of the people who are about to embrace the faith. In the name of the Blessed Trinity may you become a saving sign empowered to drive away the enemy. Therefore, we beg you, Lord, our God, to sanctify [Image: rubric-cross.gif] and to bless [Image: rubric-cross.gif] this creature, salt, thus providing a perfect remedy for all who receive it, one that will permeate their inmost being. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming to judge both the living and the dead and the world by fire.

Exorcism of the person being baptised

I cast you out, unclean spirit, in the name of the Father, [Image: rubric-cross.gif] and of the Son, [Image: rubric-cross.gif] and of the Holy [Image: rubric-cross.gif]Spirit. Depart and stay far away from this servant (these servants) of God, N. (N. and N.). For it is the Lord Himself who commands you, accursed and doomed spirit, He who walked on the sea and reached out His hand to Peter as he was sinking. So then, foul fiend, recall the curse that decided your fate once for all. Indeed, pay homage to the living and true God, pay homage to Jesus Christ, His Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Keep far from this servant (these servants) of God, N. (N. and N.), for Jesus Christ, our Lord and God, has freely called him (her) (them) to His holy grace and blessed way and to the waters of baptism.

Final Exorcism
For one
I cast you out, every unclean spirit, in the name of God [Image: rubric-cross.gif] the Father almighty, in the name of Jesus [Image: rubric-cross.gif] Christ, His Son, our Lord and judge, and in the power of the Holy [Image: rubric-cross.gif] Spirit. Begone, Satan, from God's handiwork, N. Because our Lord (has) graciously called him her to His holy sanctuary, where he (she) will become a dwelling place for the living God, a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. We ask this in the name of Christ our Lord, who is coming to judge both the living and the dead and the world and the dead and the world by fire.

Here is the exorcism from the new Rite:

Quote:Almighty and ever-living God, you sent your only Son into the world to cast out the power of Satan, spirit of evil, to rescue man from the kingdom of darkness, and bring him into the splendor of your kingdom of light. We pray for this child: set him (her) free from original sin, make him (her) a temple of your glory, and send your Holy Spirit to dwell with him (her). We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Peace....when one reads the Rites and wording used, it really is a beautiful sacrament for baby or adult!  Jovan, i looked at your blog and saw that you are following the Tertiary Ancient Rule; did you ever follow a later Rule and return to the ancient?  Asking, because that is what i did with Franciscan Brothers and Sisters of Penance Rule 1221 formerly using OSF Rule 1975.  (couldn't find a way to post on yr blog) angeltime

Sort of. Not the original Rule of Blessed John Soreth, but the Rule composed by our Reverend Prior General Theodor Stratius in 1635, which was revised in 1678.

When I took my vows, I was a very conservative Novus Ordoite. By the time Ecclesia Dei was issued I was a full on Trad. I wrote the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei asking permission to follow the Old Rule and to use the old LOBVM or Breviary. His Eminence Paul, Cardinal Mayer, President of the Commission answered that since the Old Rule was stricter and the old Offices were longer, I would actually be doing more than the modern Rule required, and granted me permission.

I'm constrained to use the Roman Breviary because of the unavailability of the Carmelite Breviary, but I do have the unreformed LOBVM According to the Carmelite Rite in Latin and English.

Pax!  tks for letting me know about using "comments" as I thought I could leave a comment unrelated really to the post (as I did here!) and I also use the Roman Breviary and St Andrew Missal.  The Penitents are a bonified private Association approved by the Church. God bless, angeltime
