Please Pray for Our Parish
#1
A bit of background: Six months ago, our parochial vicar - the first married priest in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, who (at least to me and, I think, to many of us) seemed like one of the most rock-solid priests to be found - was put on extended personal leave for reasons that we didn't know and weren't allowed to ask about (looking back, I think our pastor was legally required not to say anything at the time). Finally, three days ago, the Indy Star broke the story as to what really happened:

If you can spare a moment, I would ask you all to please, in your charity:

* Pray for all the good folks at Holy Rosary Church, that the parish - and especially the St. Joseph of Arimathea Society, of which Fr. Reese was the chaplain - might be able to withstand and recover from this horror;

* Pray for our pastor, Fr. McCarthy, that he might persevere through all the mud that will no doubt be slung in his direction (not to mention the strain of shouldering three different communities - A.U., N.O., and T.L.M. - practically by himself);

* Pray for the Reese family (especially his children), that they might find healing and peace;

* And pray for Fr. Reese himself, that he might overcome whatever drove him to these acts of violence, and - though he should NEVER be allowed back into public ministry after something like this - find some way of serving God and doing good in the world.

GromitusRex1993,
I'm going to add these to my regular, permanent intentions, as well as my Rosary today.
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most precious blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said Throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory. Amen.
