First, from Church Militant: ITALIAN ARCHDIOCESE ROCKED BY SCANDAL: DRUGS, GAY PROSTITUTION, BLACKMAIL

Second, from the Daily Beast: Confessions of the Vatican’s Favorite Male Escort

Both articles have been featured on The Drudge Report.

The first two paragraphs from the second linked article above provides a summary:
Quote:Father Luca Morini did not practice what he preached. In fact, the Catholic priest apparently did a lot more than preaching at the two parishes he led in rural Tuscany where he earned the nickname “Don Euro” and where he now faces charges for fraud, embezzlement, drug dealing, extortion, and money laundering.

His impropriety was first exposed after a male escort named Francesco Mangiacapra discovered that the consensual sex-for-hire relationship he had with Morini, who he thought was a high-powered judge, was not quite what it seemed. Mangiacapra, who trained as a lawyer but who apparently found the male-escort business more profitable, had made the discovery quite by chance, when he recognized his high-dollar client in priest garb.

And then there is the bombshell...

Quote:Last week Mangiacapra handed a 1,200-page dossier to the archdiocese of Naples with documents (including sexually explicit pictures) that prove the escort's involvement with 60 priests from all over Italy. Explaining his motivations to newspaper Corriere della Sera, Mangiacapra said, "The goal isn't to hurt the people I've mentioned [in the dossier], but to help them understand that their double life ... isn't useful to them or to the people who rely on them for guidance."

One male escort, 60 priests.  Wow.  If what this man is alleging is indeed true, this is no doubt a problem of epic proportions.  And this is just in Italy.

I am not willing to believe a male escort who gives sex for money without proof.  I think innocent until proven guilty should be taken here.  Most of all since we are talking about a man who gets paid for sex.
Peace.....I get your point, however what about the photos of his participants he provided - probably in the act to a degree??  Many people are profiting just from books they put out and dont really care who is scandalized - including themselves..... :ciao: angeltime

One escort, 60 priests.  How did he manage to get that "clientele"?  Referrals? Bird-dog fees?  Church discount?
Don't get me wrong, I do think there is a dirty underbelly, but again, 1 guy, 60 priests.
.

If you are gay AND want to have sex with another man, why stay a priest?  They are usually well-educated, articulate and polished, so getting a job outside of the priesthood should not be too difficult, so why stay in?  Why hide?  You can't be too ashamed of yourself if you are having sex with a male prostitute, so, are the material benefits worth sticking with it?

Why ask why? They just are who they are. If one really needs an answer, sadly it's just because they're bloodsucking fudge packers. The Lavender Mafia is real.
