Blessing before Surgery?
#1
I'm not having anything serious done; I'm just getting my wisdom teeth removed. I was thinking that as a general rule of thumb it couldn't hurt to make a Sacramental Confession, receive Holy Communion, and receive a blessing before surgery, whether or not there's very much risk of death involved.

I tried looking for a blessing before surgery, but couldn't find anything. Should I construct a new one based off of the Blessing for a Sick Adult from the Roman Ritual to present to my priest?
Corpus Christi, salva me.

The priest will have a book of blessings that he can use, and there will be a suitable prayer in that.  He also might make up his own words or simply make the sign of the cross over you.

I recommend letting the priest give his own blessing.
