Happy Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Rood!-Deus Vult!

Today is Roodmas, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Here is my blogpost for the day.

Troparion of the Holy Cross, Eastern Catholic Churches,
Quote:O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance. Grant victories to the orthodox Christians over their adversaries; and by the virtue of Thy Cross, preserve Thy habitation.

(Slightly different translation)

The Collect of the Feast,
Quote:O God, Who dost this day gladden us by the yearly Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, grant, we beseech thee, that even as we have understood the mystery thereof upon earth, so we may worthily enjoy in heaven the fruits of the redemption which was paid thereon.Through the same Jesus Christ, thy Son, Our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.
Pange lingua gloriosi, the Hymn at Matins,

Another hymn, this by an Anglican, but fitting. 'Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before!' Written for a Parish procession when such things were considered 'papist' in the CofE and could be physically dangerous for participants.

A Crusader's Cross.
