Advice for public reading of horror

I’m not an expert in public speaking, but I would try to vary the speed you talk and also talk quietly when you’re really trying to set the tone for something scary to happen. Maybe you could ask someone to slam the door too to really scare people.
You could also use a flashlight like people do when telling a story when they’re camping.
Think about how scary movies are, how they get quiet right before a big shocker MyLowesLife.com.
And practice, practice because that will only make things better.
