Councils

Since councils have such importance on catholic dogma and thinking. I was hoping some posters would give examples from both the bible and the early church on the importance of councils.

Thanks.

The first council was in Jerusalem and is recorded in Holy Writ in the book of Acts, 15:2-35 to be precise. It serves to provide an example of the humility of our Church leadership in conferring with each other to reconcile secondary problems for the sake of unity in the Church.
"The Heart of Jesus is closer to you when you suffer, than when you are full of joy." - St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever. - 1 John, 2:15-17.
