I'd pick Dragnet as the best. Other's I'd rate high were the spinoff Adam-12. Hawaii Five-O for the first few seasons, and Streets Of San Francisco.

'Dragnet' and 'Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot', with David Suchet are tied in my book.

                                       Classic scene from Dragnet

                                         And a heartwarming episode

Absolutely Dragnet, but I got a kick out of Columbo and even Barney Miller, but the last two were more comedy than drama.

Actually, my grandma was a huge fan of "Mannix."  With my mum (also frae Glasgow), I'd watch the British mysteries, such as "Poirot," "Taggart," "Dalgliesh," etc.  With my NYC dad, I'd watch "Crime Story."

What about Kojak?

"There is nothing more pleasing to God, than to see a soul who patiently and serenely bears whatever crosses it is sent; this is how love is made, by putting lover and loved one on the same level. . . A soul who loves Jesus Christ desires to be treated the way Christ was treated-desires to be poor, despised and humiliated."

The Untouchables

When my mother was in her 90's she told me as kids they would follow the going-ons of the gangsters in Chicago daily in the newspaper. As a teenager I watched the reruns on a B&W TV.

I rooted for Eliot Ness I'm not sure about Mom though.

I actually liked Adam-12 better than Dragnet, but both are my favorites.

Being a big map guy I loved the frequent locations given in Dragnet and Adam-12.

Columbo, without a doubt, no way to argue it, and I am unanimous in that.
