Resurrection Troparion
#1
I heard the Resurrection Troparion on the video in the thread "Orthodox Liturgy". I found the words to it, via Silentchapel's translation into English. However, I don't know what language they are in. I think it's Slavonic, but I'm not sure (it could be Russian, Serbian or something else).

Hrestoss vosskrese ez mertvih,
smerteeyou smert po prav,
Ee suscheem vo grobeh zhivot
darovav.

Can anyone provide the Cyrillic version (if it is Slavonic).

It's Church Slavonic, and I'll try to find the Cyrillic version on the web.

Хрїсто́съ воскре́се и́зъ ме́ртвыхъ,
Сме́ртїю сме́рть попра́въ,
И сѹ́щымъ во гробѣ́хъ
живо́тъ Дарова́въ!

Here's how the Carpatho-Rusyn Greek Catholics pronounce it (in the Slovak alphabet):

Christos voskrese iz mertvych, smertiju smerť poprav, i suščim vo hrobich život darovav.

Here's how the Russians pronounce it:

Christos Voskrese iz mertvych, smertiyu smert' poprav, i sushym vo grobyech, zhivot darovav!

Here it is in English:

Christ is risen from the dead. By death He conquered death, and to those in the graves He granted life.

I learned it English (in the OCA) as "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tomb bestowing life."

This actually is a better translation than that used by the Ruthenian Greek Catholics in the USA.

It doesn't look like the Cyrilllic version is readable in Windows 98.  Let's try it again.  Set "encoding" to "Cyrillic (Windows)".
